It’s always exciting to open an email and discover a short story submission was accepted. That always gives a writer a boost. I’m thrilled to announce my story Slide Rock will be included in the next Pikes Peaks Writer’s Anthology. This will be the third PPW Anthology for me, talk about an honor!
The theme for this anthology is: The Other Side of the Mountain
I mean, come on. That’s the stuff I eat, breathe, and live (and write) every single day. I had a lot of fun writing Slide Rock, and next year I hope you’ll have fun reading it — along with all the other great stories that are sure to be included.
The other two anthologies my work is in are filled with wonderful tales from a wide variety of talented authors. Check them out here for some good fall reading.
FYI: The dog in the above photo was our good boy Ty. He was always ready to humor me and lend a paw whenever I asked him to do silly things like pose for the camera. He was very loved and is missed.
In this second anthology from the Pikes Peak Writers, you will take a journey through the creative minds of the twenty-seven writers who penned the following works based on a simple one-word prompt – Dream.
In my story, Dream Quota, the Healing Dreams Institute offers prisoners shortened sentences in return for dream studies. But when those dreams, and the REM sleep associated with them are stolen, who among them can stay sane long enough to survive?
Are you ready to go on a journey to a place you have never been before? What would you like to do? Maybe a swim with dolphins, meet strange new creatures, or see John Dillinger behind bars? You could take a trip through time, visit a new planet, or hop on a train worn with memories. The possibilities are just a page away.
In my story, Past Possibilities, when Thomas Bollinger has to get healthy or die, he turns to the only physical activity he loved as a boy, riding a bicycle. But when he finds a vintage Schwinn Phantom, exactly like the one he had so many years ago, everything changes. The bike takes him back to where anything is possible.
