Winter Bucks

Frost hung in the air and glittered the snow as the bachelor herd of Mule Deer bucks came out to feed before sunrise. Differences aside now that the rut is over, they foraged close together. Sparkling clouds were caught in the early morning light as they pawed through the snow to reach the dried grasses underneath. Dig a hole, eat what was reavealed, take a few steps and start over.

When the sun broke over the eastern ridge, they fed slowly toward the cover of timber. It was another nature gift, a perfect moment that was impossible to capture completely with the camera, but will remain in my heart and memory.
